Coastal Rivers on the Pacific Coast are known for their incredible Salmon and Steelhead opportunities. On this episode, Big Dave Manners and Nick Popov are floating a Coastal River using a few proven techniques to intercept big Chinook Salmon on their way up the Freshwater Rivers. Although some of these fish are colored up, they are still strong, hard fighters!
One Chinook is particularly large for 2023. Yes, 40, 50 and 60lb fish have been caught on the Oregon Coast in decades past, but in the current decade, anything even approaching 30lbs is a trophy fish.
